Holidays April 7

World Health Day

The holiday is timed to coincide with the creation of the World Health Organization on April 7, 1948. Gradually, more and more countries joined the organization, and today more than 200 states are its members, including the Russian Federation. According to the Charter, signed by the presidents of these countries, every citizen at the state level acquires the right to health, and the state takes responsibility for the health of his nation, pointing to the indissoluble connection of an important aspect with the development of the country, the strengthening of science and the general safety of the population.

The main activity of the World Health Organization (WHO) is the united desire of mankind to deal with dangers that pose a real threat to human health and life. Since 1950, World Health Day has been celebrated annually on April 7th. Each year, this holiday touches on a particular problem in the health sector and, as a rule, is supported by traditional propaganda actions.

Runet's birthday

Runet is only a small Russian-language part of the world wide web, and every year on April 7 it is celebrated on its birthday. The Russian-language domain "ru" was registered and entered into the international domain database in 1994. Thus, Russia was officially introduced on the Internet. According to the agreement, the responsibilities for technical support and administration of the domain "ru" were transferred to the hands of RosNIIROS. Since 2009, the use of another domain, the Russian Federation, began in the Russian Federation. Unlike the previous one, the domain "rf" with all the names of the second level is written exclusively in Cyrillic.

Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Feast of the Annunciation is commemorated on the day when the archangel Gabriel announced to the Virgin Mary about the imminent birth of the Son of God. The duration of a great Orthodox holiday varies from one to three days. If the Annunciation coincides with the Christian Easter, then the faithful celebrate a double feast called Kiriopastha. However, such a coincidence is extremely rare (the next Kiriopasha will be in 2075).

In Russia, the Annunciation was taken very seriously and with special trepidation. He was considered one of the most important events of the year. And these could be counted on the fingers. As you know, the Annunciation falls during Great Lent. However, on this holiday it can be slightly weakened. The tradition of this day was the mandatory preparation of kulebyaki - an oval-oblong cake with fish or vegetable filling. On the Annunciation Day it was forbidden to do any work, it was considered a great sin, so people tried to redo all the necessary work on the eve of the holiday.

According to popular belief, on April 7, God Himself descends to Earth to bless her and everything that she begets. Therefore, people one day before the holiday necessarily sprinkled the site with holy water and illuminated it with planting seeds. Also at night, it was customary to burn their straw mattresses, jumping over the fire and fumigating beautiful clothes with smoke. A similar ceremony was carried out in order to exterminate diseases and strengthen their aura (so that the evil eye and spoilage would not become attached to a person). Today, special attention was paid to the weather. It was believed that if it rains on the Annunciation, then rye will be born. But a strong thunderstorm foreshadowed the abundance of nuts.
