The fragrance and beauty of a rose cannot be compared with any other flower. Rose is adored by the overwhelming majority of women, and those who publicly say they do not recognize this flower are surely cunning. The variety of colors of roses is so great that often women can not exactly determine what kind of look they like.

But everyone unanimously says that the stunning aroma of roses can not be confused with anything. No wonder the petals of this plant are made essential oil, which is considered one of the most expensive in the world. Just imagine: in order to get only 1 kg of rose oil, the manufacturer needs about 5 thousand kg of petals. Let's try to figure out what the same properties of rose oil and why it is so useful for the skin of the body, face and hair, and also talk about the impact it has on the body as a whole.

Rose oil: history and methods of obtaining

For the first time, rose flowers appeared in the mountains of South China, after which they first spread throughout India, and then they “moved” to Africa and “settled” in the Middle East. Since those times when the rose was brought to France, and began to flourish the era of rose oil. Resourceful French used it as a raw material for perfume compositions, added to cosmetic and medical preparations.

Today, rose oil is obtained from two main types of flower, which are called "damask" and "table" roses. Petals of these species are considered essential oil, while other types of roses are not suitable for the production of rose oil. Due to the fact that for the sake of oil production one has to cut off a huge number of rosebuds, it cannot be cheap. Always pay attention to the price of rose oil if you want to try it out when making homemade cosmetics: when the price of rose essential oil is too low, you may be trying to present cheaper geranium oil or sandalwood under the guise of a natural product.

The color of rose oil is not too different from the shades of other essential oils, but it can vary, depending on the place where the flowers grow, the time of day the buds are gathered, and even the weather conditions. For example, the standard yellow-green or rich yellow shade has rose oil created from flowers that grow in Bulgaria. By the way, at the moment it is this country that is considered the world leader in the production of rose oil. Rose essential oil made in Germany may be light green in color, but products imported from Africa may be yellow-orange or even amber. Sometimes the oil of rose petals is supplied in a thick form - it is a pale pink emulsion resembling margarine in consistency.

As usual, rose essential oil is obtained using the method of steam distillation. Very little oil is obtained at the output, but it is quite concentrated, so it should be added in the production of cosmetic products just a few drops. An interesting fact: the production of oil begins immediately after the harvest of the petals, because they are so delicate that they can start to deteriorate literally within a few hours after they are picked. If the rose petals are not processed during the day, then the possible amount of oil produced is reduced to 60-65%.
