Bananas are one of the most popular fruit varieties that has been grown and consumed throughout the world for millennia. Recent studies have found that banana peels when used properly reduce the risk of cancer.

What does a banana contain?

Banana contains high doses of magnesium, potassium and helps in the fight against stress. Potassium lowers blood pressure, and magnesium relaxes muscles. The fruit lifts the mood by increasing the concentration of neurotransmitters "happiness" in the brain.

In Western culture, people eat only banana pulp, while the skin is thrown away. Nevertheless, it is known that some cultures in Africa and Asia consider banana peels to be healthy food. The fruit shell usually contains a lot of fiber and nutrients that are not found in the pulp.

Banana peel is a valuable source of fiber. Dietary fiber promotes healthy digestion and helps lower cholesterol. The banana peel contains the tryptophan amino acid, which cheers you up.

The shell is saturated with vitamins A, B, C and K, niacin, and also contain trace elements. Folic acid, phosphorus and many essential amino acids are contained in lower doses. Containing fiber also nourishes and provides easily digestible carbohydrates for an energetic start to the day.

Is banana peel a cancer preventative?

The antioxidants and phenols contained in banana peels have anti-cancer and anti-aging properties. This is evidenced by a study conducted at the University of San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador.

Scientists did not analyze the levels of healthy ingredients in banana peels in order to discover health benefits. They tried to figure out how to properly dispose of banana waste. A random find is the anti-cancer properties of banana skins.

247,000 tons of bananas annually do not meet quality requirements for export or sale in local markets. The reason is damage during harvesting or transportation. Spent bananas are currently a serious environmental problem in Ecuador.

If there is no way to remove the skins, the problem of high organic pollution will not be solved. Researchers studied this issue by analyzing various types of bananas for the content of tannin in the peel.

Science did not try to obtain a banana peel artificially. However, it is known to those skilled in the art that the content of tannin and tannic acid is highest at the initial stage of peel maturation. Beneficial substances decrease with increasing maturity of the banana peel.

What other effects does a banana peel have?

Enzymes, antioxidants and vitamins are absorbed into the skin. A face mask should be freshly prepared for every use. It is recommended to thoroughly cleanse the face and apply rubbed mass.

As soon as the face mask dries, it can be washed off with warm water. The mask acts against wrinkles, blemishes, skin fatigue and sunburn and can be applied 1 to 2 times a week.

The inside of the peel can be used to clean shoes, leather sofas and purses. Also, the fruit shell cleans the leaves of indoor plants and rubber trees. Another application is cleaning household appliances.

The banana peel is perfect for compost, but can also be cut and added to flower pots.

Butterflies and birds fly on a banana peel. You can use this effect specifically if a person wants the areas of the house and garden to be free from moths. Bananas secrete ethylene. If they are next to other fruits or vegetables in a bowl, the latter ripen faster. Therefore, immature avocados are also often placed with bananas.

Banana peels often contain pesticides, so it is not recommended to eat them. To polish silver, other metals, shoes or other objects, you can safely use the peel.
