Overweight, appearing after reaching middle age, becomes a fly in the ointment for many women. Unfortunately, dealing with it is often much more difficult than five or ten years earlier, but it seems that Brazilian researchers have found a solution to this problem.

In order to get rid of extra pounds in middle age, in their opinion, a woman only needs to find time to complete 6,000 steps a day, which, in addition to weight loss, will also help reduce the likelihood of heart disease, diabetes and its metabolic syndrome.

Before drawing their conclusions, Brazilian scientists examined 292 women aged 45 to 72 years. Each of them underwent a medical examination, which recorded such indicators of health status as cholesterol and blood sugar. In addition, doctors measured their waist and hips to identify the degree of abdominal obesity, which is one of the main causes of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

After all the analyzes, the women were given pedometers that they needed to use for a certain time, every time they were in motion, and by the end of the day write down the data from the device to their diary. At the final stage of the experiment, experts again examined all women, taking into account the data recorded by the participants from the pedometer. Thus, experts found that those who took 6,000 or more steps a day had a much lower risk of diabetes and metabolic syndrome than in the initial analysis. In addition to this, they were able to significantly reduce their volume in the waist and hips, thereby reducing their level of abdominal obesity. It is worth noting that those who were more active and tried to move as quickly as possible gained the greatest benefit from walking.

The report on the results of the experiment says: “Obviously, for middle-aged women, the path to health begins with 6000 steps per day. The study showed that compliance with this norm not only helps to lose weight, but can also reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease, even 50%. The longer the classes, the more visible the results, but you can feel the changes in your body after 2-3 months, provided that the standard is met daily. "
